Encinitas is a beachfront town that is located north of San Diego off Highway 5. With an average daily temperature year round of 72 degrees and sunshine almost every day, Encinitas is synonymous with outdoor living. The town of Encinitas has six miles of coastline, 10 public beaches, eleven parks, and is marked by the Batiquitos Lagoon to the north and the San Elijo Lagoon to the south. The beach at the southern end of Encinitas offers world class surfing, and is also a great place for sunbathing and swimming.
In addition to the usual beach activities, other things to see and do in Encinitas is visiting the Quail Botanical Gardens, the Friday Farmer’s Market in Old Encinitas, and Sunday concerts at Moonlight Beach in July and August. Shopping is diverse in Encinitas, mixing quaint shops and restaurants in downtown with new shopping malls and plazas. Once known as the “flower capital of the world,” visit one of the several nurseries in Encinitas open to the public.
There is also a famous retreat located in Encinitas where people from around the world come to meditate as they gaze at the Pacific Ocean. With an annual street fair in the spring to Oktoberfest in the fall, you will never run out of things to do while visiting beautiful Encinitas!
